Established in 2006 out of Derby’s Five Lamps pub, Five Lamps Films (or 5LF) was devised as a way for local filmmakers to get together, talk about films and show their work.

Working off the idea of “an open mic night for films”, they take submissions regardless of experience or age. From the professional production team to the hobbyist, they want everyone to feel that they have a home to show their work and enjoy seeing it play to an audience of peers and fans alike on the big screen.

They also try to promote filmmaking through their Online Library, which at the moment stands as linking to nearly 350 films.

5LF runs bi-monthly on the last Tuesday of the month at Derby’s home for creativity – QUAD in the 150+ seated Cinema 2. It is free for anyone to enter their film and filmmakers get two free tickets for the screening. To come and see a screening, the entry price is £2.

Five Lamps Films is currently curated by Sam Jordan & Carl Bryan.
