Derby born Director/Producer/Writer, Dominic Burns’ feature film debut, CUT, starring Zach Galligan (Gremlins 1 + 2), was the world’s first horror movie to be shot in a single continuous take, a feat many in the business had insisted was simply impossible. Burns’ follow up feature Jack Falls, featuring an all-star British cast, was picked up by Lionsgate and distributed all over the world. Richard E Grant joined yet another all-star British cast for Burns’ next movie, HOW TO STOP BEING A LOSER, which was Burns’ first theatrically distributed movie in the UK.
Since then Burns has directed and produced a further five movies which have been theatrically distributed all over the world; he was the recipient of the Golden Lion Award for his movie AIRBORNE at the British Independent Film Festival and he also directed Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker to the uninitiated) to being nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Kimberly Jaraj won Best Actress.
Burns’ films can be found on Netflix, Blu Ray, DVD, iTunes, VOD and on TV all over the world and his film’s trailers have literally received millions of hits online. In addition to the aforementioned, Burns has directed talent including Jean Claude Van Damme, Julian Glover, Sheridan Smith, Andrew Shim, Martin Kemp, Dexter Fletcher, Adam Deacon, Julian Ovenden, Jason Flemyng, Martin Compston, Matt Willis, Gemma Atkinson, Olivia Hallinan, Edmund Kingsley, Alan Ford, Sean Pertwee and a live Tiger!
Burns produced Devil’s Tower, starring Jason Mewes, the feature debut for writer Adam Marsh and director Owen Tooth, and he’s now looking to branch out his production company Hawthorn Productions; always hunting for up and coming talent.
Burns’ latest film, ALLIES, a World War two set action thriller was distributed by Eone in the UK and USA and was received extremely well by critics; by Burns’ own admission, ALLIES is by far and away his best work and has set the bar moving forward.
