In December 2018, we announced that it was the last ever Film & TV Tweetup. This is because we are making some very exciting changes and the first of these is a change to our name and branding- all will be revealed at our next event on 17th January 2019!

Not only are we changing our name, but we’re also changing our focus. We’ve been hosting successful networking events for four years now, but it’s time to expand. We want to be a hub for the East Midlands film community, and our first step is to begin with a celebration of local film.

This celebration will take place in the format of a 1-day short film festival on Sunday 12th May 2019, followed by an Awards Ceremony on our usual networking evening on Thursday 16th May! We hope this can become an annual celebration.

Date: Sunday 12th May 2019

Time: 11am – 10pm split into screening sessions and time for a mingle (TBC)

Venue: Nottingham’s brand new venue, ‘Metronome‘ (NG1 1AP – directly opposite ‘Antenna’, our usual venue)

Submissions: To hopefully open on or around 17th January 2019 (To be announced at January’s event). Deadline will likely be on our around 20th March 2019.

Fee: It is FREE to submit your films, however we will charge a very small fee (TBC) on the door of the festival to cover the costs of running the event.

Film requirements: Films to be no longer than 15 minutes in length and to have been completed no earlier than 2016. All genres welcome. We hope to be taking submissions via FilmFreeway only (TBC). Filmmakers MUST be based in the East Midlands and may be asked to prove this if selected/nominated, and it is preferred that submitted films were mostly or wholly shot in the East Midlands.

Announcements: Selections and lineup for the festival day will be announced by the end of April. Award nominations will be announced in May ahead of the Festival.

Date: Thursday 16th May 2019 (usual dates)

Time: 7pm – 11pm (usual times)

Entry fee: £1 per head (usual fee) although please note we may need to use a Reserve List for this event as we expect it will be very busy. This will be confirmed nearer the time.

Like all our events, this festival and awards ceremony will not be making profit, however, we need to pay for the use of ‘Metronome’, the awards themselves, expenses and additional bits and pieces that will make our Celebration extra special and a memorable evening for all.

We will be fundraising at our upcoming events as well as crowdfunding in March. Any donations and help sharing will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to sponsor an award, please email
